Durable Medical Equipment and Medical Bill Assistance for Individuals Living With Spinal Cord Injuries

Nathan Powell Foundation works to address medical and financial needs that can affect a person’s independence, comfort, safety, and quality of life.

As a growing nonprofit, we currently focus on two primary areas of assistance.

Durable Medical Equipment Assistance

Access to appropriate medical equipment can make a major difference in a person’s daily life. Unfortunately, insurance may not cover every necessary item, repair, replacement, or related expense.

When funding is available, Nathan Powell Foundation may provide assistance toward eligible durable medical equipment needs for individuals living with spinal cord injuries.

Examples may include:

  • Wheelchairs or wheelchair-related equipment
  • Wheelchair batteries
  • Pressure-relief cushions
  • Transfer equipment
  • Necessary repairs or replacement parts
  • Other qualifying medical equipment needs

Each request is reviewed individually. Assistance is not guaranteed and depends on eligibility, documentation, available funding, and the circumstances surrounding the request.

Medical Bill Assistance

Medical expenses can place significant financial pressure on individuals and families.

When funding is available, Nathan Powell Foundation may provide limited assistance toward eligible medical bills related to the care or treatment of an individual living with a spinal cord injury.

Applicants may be asked to provide supporting documentation, including a copy of the bill, provider information, proof of diagnosis, insurance information, or other materials needed to review the request.

Assistance is based on available funding and does not cover every type of expense.

How Assistance Is Awarded

Because our organization has limited funding, we are not able to approve every request.

Applications may be considered based on:

  • Connection to a spinal cord injury
  • Type and urgency of the need
  • Supporting documentation
  • Availability of other insurance or financial resources
  • Available foundation funding
  • Whether the request falls within our current programs

Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or payment.

Applicants will be contacted if additional information is required.

Looking Ahead

As Nathan Powell Foundation grows, we hope to expand into additional areas that may include:

  • Home accessibility assistance
  • Wheelchair-accessible transportation support
  • Adaptive equipment
  • Emergency financial assistance
  • Additional resources for individuals and families

These are future goals and are not currently guaranteed programs.
